Mary Ann Lea, age 68 of Las Vegas, NV passed away on December 26,2020 after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was born to the late Edward J. Fallon and Betty J. Kula on January 30, 1952.
Mary attended Johnson High School in Yakota, Japan and was a graduate of the University of Arizona. Mary retired from Cochise Community College in Sierra Vista, AZ. At the college she experienced a rewarding career the director of disability services helping students with special needs achieve their dreams of obtaining a college education.
Mary had a passion for words and people. She was an avid reader of biographies and was recognized for her creative writing talents. She was an excellent Scrabble player who delighted in the competition with family and friends during holiday gatherings. In retirement, Mary had the opportunity to travel with two of her sisters, Connie and Lori. Mary treasured the memories she was able to create with her sisters and her family was blessed by the hilarity of the stories from their adventures. Mary loved to sing and performed with many choirs.
Mary was predeceased by her mother Betty Kula and her husband Loren Kula, her father Edward J. Fallon and his wife Carol Fallon, and her brother Steven Kula. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Roy Lea; her sisters Connie Scott, Lori Mehl and Carolyn Wall; her brothers Edward Fallon, Jim Fallon, Tom Fallon, Patrick Fallon and Gregory Kula. She is survived by her children, Matthew Bridges and his wife Melody, Dana Williams and her husband Ronald, John Bridges and his wife Christina and Ian Lea. Mary had nine grandchildren: Drew, John, Amy, Caitlin, Nathanael, Camille, Ruby, Liam and Susannah.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Palm Northwest Mortuary in Las Vegas on Sunday January 3, 2021 at 11 a.m.. The event will be live streamed.
Mary was an admirer of the vision of Pastor Philip Abode and the work he’s engaged in to revitalize the Hawthorne community in North Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made on Mary’s behalf to Crossover Community Impact (www.crossoverimpact.org).
