

Mary Jeanne Cooley, eldest daughter of Francis E. Jackson and Mildred E. Regan, was born in Los Angeles, Dec. 23, 1921. She passed away Nov. 27, 2011, in Henderson, where she resided with her youngest daughter, Julie, and her son-in-law, Donny Borsack. She leaves behind five children, Frank Cooley, Steve Cooley, Jan Canarella, Cathy Gonzales and Julie Borsack. Mary Jeanne was beloved by her 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and all who had the opportunity to know her. Mary Jeanne was the eldest of five children. Her father died suddenly when she was 12 years old. After graduation from Catholic Girls High School, in lieu of attending college, she worked at St. John's Military Academy, exchanging secretarial and bookkeeping services to pay the tuition for her three younger brothers, all of whom served in the U.S. military including World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. Mary Jeanne was an accomplished woman. She was not only a mother of five children, but she was a successful real estate broker and licensed realtor in Silver Lake and Atwater areas of Los Angeles and later, in Huntington Beach, Calif. She was a loving wife, of 52 years, to her husband, Francis Dunning Cooley, who passed away July 4, 1996. Services will held in celebration of her life at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2300 Sunridge Heights Parkway in Henderson. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to St. Francis of Assisi Building Fund.
