Mary M. Gentry

Mary Gentry passed away on March 4th, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 18th 1935 in McGill Nevada to parents Theo Smernis and Sophie nee Andrews and later raised by Sophie and stepfather George Malaperdas. Mary attended McGill Elementary School and White Pine County High School. She moved to Las Vegas as an adult and worked as a manager at The Melody Lane Restaurant on Fremont Street and in later years at The Landmark and Stardust hotels in the pantry. Her love of baking and decorating was something she gladly passed down to her children and grandchildren. Every holiday was made special by her treats and her love of the occasion. Her Christmas cookies were especially loved and eagerly

anticipated each year by her entire family. She particularly enjoyed traveling in her later years. As a proud Greek woman one of her favorite trips was to Greece. At home her leisure time was spent enjoying reading, listening to music and watching classic movies. She was a truly loved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be deeply missed every day. She is pre deceased by sister Georgia Group, brother Stan Malaperdas, and daughter Frances McGregor. She is survived by brother Dean Malaperdas, daughter Jaelynne Gentry, son Jerry Gentry, daughter April Karalis, and son Roy Gentry along with grandchildren Billy, Michael, Jessica, Jennifer, Dante, and Charlotte as well as ten great grand children. Funeral services will be held at St. John the

Baptist Greek Orthodox Church on March 14th, 2023. Viewing at 9:30 am and funeral at 10:00 am. May her memory be eternal.
