I remember when I stepped on glass outside your house and you took me to hospital. I needed sutures so you made believe you were my mom.... than you could not "remember" if I had allergies.... you chalked it up to "having 5 kids"

it has been a month since you left us,I really miss our conversations and anytime I needed advice you were right there for me...gone but never forgotten

Mary, I got to know you from stories Peter Colarco frequently told me about you. Than I had the honor of meeting you in person and Peter's stories that felt exaggerated at first were turned into reality. You were an amazingly strong woman, always smiling no matter what the day brought you. I also had the pleasure of meeting your sons who reinforced how great of a person you were. Great kind family.  I will miss you RIP. Greg, Jim and Peter my deepest condolences for your big loss.

Mary was an inspiration to all.  I had the privilege of knowing & loving her the last 9 years. She gave me the most unbelievable guidance and love that I could ever imagine and I loved her for that. She was the best!!  I cherished her visits to our home in Clear Lake and would look forward to them. I would always bake her famous Irish Soda bread (she handed down her recipe a few years ago, so I could keep the tradition going). She loved coming to Texas and seeing all of her family and "Her Man Justin"!  At night it was a circus act around the house with our dog Hurley and cat Marley to see who was going to get to sleep with Grandma. Usually they both ended up in her room!
She was a wonderful lady and great friend to me who I will miss terribly but cherish all the memories she blessed me with.

I will miss my friend Mary very much.  She was a great inspiration to me.

I moved on fruitwood lane when i was in the 5th grade Jim and Greg became fast friends and I developed a strong connection to Mary that lasted 45 years,what most people do not know is when i was 16 and just got my drivers license(dirt poor teenager) I was talking to Mary and said I have to get a job so i can save up for a car,she said go look for a car and i will lend you the money and you can pay me back when you get a job. I borrowed $500 got a car,got a job and paid her back every cent,she would not even take money for interest, to this day I credit her for giving me a start in business life and when someone trusts you it is life changing. Growing up i became part of her family going up to visit Aunt Cathy and Uncle Dan,going to the beach etc we had many great times. Jim&Greg moved to Texas i moved to Las Vegas yet our friendship remained strong even stronger she came to Vegas quite a bit she always stayed with me and my mom.Mary Brown LOVED Vegas!!!  One of our favorite stories is she came out with her sister Cathy and i had just gotten a brand new car a few days before which of course i let them use they were out gambling for about 30 or 40 hours walked in the house and said we are just taking a shower and going out again,I calmly took the keys and said Mary Brown no sleepy no drivy.......they went to bed. It was only natural for her to retire in Vegas and she loved it!!!!!she had the most stamina while playing her penny slots we enjoyed countless hours of dinners shows and of course gambling.Green Valley Ranch was her 3rd home her 2nd was my house and my family, she was invited to every family function(italian family..that is twice a week)and my entire family embraced her as their own.Mary played cards with her long island family every tuesday and in the last few years she would schedule every dr appointment around cards,she loved it so much and when it was harder to get around instead of rotating houses everyone played cards at Mary's house. When she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer 5 years ago she was given 6 months,she never ever complained,we were so fortunate to have her 5 more years and we took advantage of that time trips to Texas,rushing from chemotherapy to Green Valley Ranch for 8 hours of gambling,she was the strongest woman i probably will ever meet.To say that i loved her and considered her my (other mother)or she considered me her "3rd" son is such an honor,my life will never be the same. Mary Brown it was such an amazing blessing to have you in my life for the last 45 years you lived your life how you wanted and died how you wanted,she never even took a pain pill not one not ever.Jim and Greg your mom was so proud of both of you and god blessed her with two of the finest men i have ever met. In closing I have an incredible amount of stories and memories of her and if you were a friend of Mary's you will always be my friend as well please contact me in Vegas just to talk or a dinner out... Mary Brown I will love you till the end of time......

Rest in peace Mary Brown, I'm glad my Mom had you as a friend, that brought a lot of great childhood memory's that will always be with me.

 Most of what I know of Mary, I learned from her sons.  An Irish Wit.  Sharp as a tack.     Greg and Jim would tell stories of growing up in Central Islip, running with their friends, Wooly, Jimmy, Pete, Rolly,  Harry, too many names to remember, hilarious stories of CI North and South.    Stories of her crazy dog wrapping his chain around the cabinet bottoms until he couldn't move where she would find him locked amidst the pots and pans and looking for relief.    Camping on the beach, working at the Jack in the Box, or Sporting Goods, Moedel's?   Stories of their grandfather and the part he played in their lives.
As I think back over these stories, what I really learned was the life that she given them.  It was a house filled with laughter.    Most of what I know of Mary I learned from her sons.   It was a house filled with love.    You will be missed Mom Brown.      God Bless.

Growing up in CI we made lifelong friends and Mary was one of them. She was a very strong and independent woman. I am sure she is playing cards with my mom and Sally with Frank, Jack and Larry looking on. Mary will surely be missed by many.

Mary Brown was a compassionate and courageous lady who lived a purposeful life on her own terms and raised two outstanding sons.  And never let adversity get her down.  A kind spirit with a most generous heart.

She will be sorely missed.

I cannot imagine a world without Mary; she was my friend for over 40 years -the best most loved friend anyone could ever have. A friend you could always talk to, laugh with and count on to share sad times as well as happy ones. She will always be in my thoughts and prayers - till we meet again, Mary.

Mary was like a second mother to me when I visited New York. Always ready with a warm embrace and an infectious smile. I will always be grateful for her kindness and love.

Mary was a good sister-in-law and friend.  She always had us over when we went to New York and then Las Vegas. Her pot roast was best.  She will be missed.
