I've known Shot for over 30 years.  He said we met the same year he bought a yellow Mercury.  If anyone knows when he bought that car, that's how long I've known him.  When I met him, I had no clue on the ride I was about to take.  We started out with a core group of seven people.  That number ebbed and flowed over the years, mostly flowing.  Parties galore.  If there wasn't a holiday or birthday to celebrate, we'd make something up.  Much dancing.  Shot was light on his feet.   Many, many fishing and camping trips.  He was a magician with an iron skillet and Dutch oven.  Shooting  clays.  He taught me how, and eventually gave me the shotgun I used.  Some boating.  We once put a canoe into a flooding river in Utah.  Total insanity.  We carried that thing around rapids more than we were on the water.  Several road trips.  On one, he pulled a trailer to the upper Snake River Canyon in Idaho where my  family was having a big reunion.  My dad and Shot got along famously.  They had three things in common -- coffee, Copenhagen, and a never-ending sense of humor.  As the years passed, our group got smaller and smaller as people moved away or died.  Shot and I made a pact that we would always stay in touch, which we did when he moved to Texas.  Whenever he came back to visit his family, we would have breakfast at Arizona Charlie's or dinner at the Hush Puppy.  When he moved back to Indian Springs, the years had taken a toll on both of us.  However, we still found things to share like fixing up his mobile home and having breakfasts and dinners.  He never lost his spirit for adventure.  During one of his first hospital stays, he was talking about going to northern Idaho to do some lake salmon fishing.  Will I miss him?  You bet, but I know that when I need a smile or laugh, all I have to do is reach into my memory bank and pull one up to get immediate cheer.  I'm truly grateful for that introduction that put this special man into my life. 


How am I gonna share about a man who changed my diapers.(His favorite joke) My fathers best friend. A man I've known since before I was conceived.(My favorite joke).May there  be sand rails/3 wheelers/horses and whatever it takes to make him happy. I hope his mamma was the first to welcome him. Shot was not only my brother, but my best Friend. I will miss him each and every day.

I met Shot over 30 years ago. He was my boss at the Test Site. I didn't know him very well. We reconnected about 10 years ago and we had a great friendship.  Shot was bigger than life itself. He taught me so many life lessons & always shared stories that he never told twice. He always had time to lend an ear when I was troubled.  We took some great excursions always filled with stories and jokes. I miss him terribly. My deepest condolences to his family, who he cherished. I pray he's not suffering anymore. Wherever he is, I hope  he's in his recliner watching NASCAR with a full can of Copenhagen and wearing his brown gloves.

I cannot say enough kind words about Shot he was like family to my husband Dennis and I. We are heartbroken knowing that there will be no more trips to Texas. We will never have another friend like Shot he was one of a kind for sure. I will never forget all the fun times we had together he really was a mess. I will miss his stories, his fashion sense( wearing gloves and shorts at the same time)  but most of all I will miss his voice. He always knew when to speak a kind word when I needed one. I will never forget my friend Shot. It's so hard to believe he is no longer here.

I gone miss u uncle shot and thing we did at the Farm. As a family. I know u are with ur sister having a good time.

I can't say I remember meeting Shot for the first time. I was a Sheriff Deputy and I'd go have coffee every morning at a local place and Shot was amongst the other cut ups . We fell in together because he had an easy way about him and I felt like we had always been friends from the start . I always liked his sense of humor and his ability to tell a good story. We remained friends long after the we stopped having those morning coffees together.  I don't make many friends , but Shot was a genuine exception. He had a talent for mischief , but at the same time could stop and listen and just be a good friend when needed - and he always seemed to know when I needed a friend and when I needed a laugh. Shot is irreplaceable. I know the pain of  his being gone resonates with the people who really knew and cared about him. There won't be another like him and that suits me just fine. People that are unique should be celebrated and their company enjoyed while they're here- and when they go , they should be missed . That's the way of things . I can promise you that someone as genuine and unique as  Shot will indeed be missed by those of us that loved him.
