Mark Evan Powell, 59, departed this life on May 7th, 2014, at his home in Henderson, Nevada. He was born in Kansas, Missouri on January 6th, 1955 to Evan and Polly Powell, who have preceded him in death. Mark graduated from Saint Anthony's High School in Long Beach, California. He attended college for six years before deciding it was time to make his mark in the business world. He worked for Coke a Cola for three years before embarking on his own entrepreneurial venture where he started a diving business called Mark's Yacht Hull Cleaning. After 19 years in the diving business, Mark, with the help of his loving wife, Cheri, sold the diving business and bought Green Valley Pool Service in Henderson, Nevada, which they still run today. Mark married his long time sweetheart and best friend, Cheri Maurer, on March 10th, 1990. Their beautiful daughter, Ariel, arrived on May 10th, 1992, on Mother's Day, and was dedicated to the Lord on June 21st, 1992, on Father's Day. Mark loved his church, Bellflower Faith Temple, and was the sound man there for many years. He loved working with wood and made the beautiful cross that hung behind the pulpit in the church. Mark loved helping people, and bought a truck just for the purpose of helping them move, especially his relatives, many of which needed their very large and heavy pianos moved. He was always available to lend a helping hand. Mark is survived by his wife, Cheri; his daughter, Ariel; his two sisters, Cindy Triesch, and Jeanne Powell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mark will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.
