He was born on February 10, 1974 in Clovis, New Mexico to Norvil and Elaine Howell. Mark graduated from Clovis High School in 1992. Mark received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Eastern New Mexico University in 1997. He continued his education and earned a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Master of Arts in Education in Administration from University of Phoenix.
Mark began his teaching career at Pueblo Pintado Community School in New Mexico. After a year, he moved to Las Vegas, where he taught at Gene Ward Elementary and Iverson Elementary before finding his true passion teaching reading and history at Mike O’Callaghan Middle School. A history buff himself, he enjoyed finding unique ways to gain students’ interest in learning.
He met his future wife, Jeanette Korbein in 2006 and they married in 2009.
Mark enjoyed taking road trips with his wife and their dogs. He also enjoyed going to the movies and trying new restaurants. One of his greatest joys in life was becoming a foster parent. Mark was a dedicated foster father to four children, who he loved dearly.
Mark is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his parents Norvil and Elaine Howell; brother John Howell and his wife Julie; nephew Jake; niece Hannah; as well his is parents-in-law Larry and Pamela Korbein; brother-in-law Brian Korbein; and many cherished friends.
A visitation will be held on July 7, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 p.m., and the funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Palm Mortuary.
