Marjorie Lou was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on December 1, 1938 to Bill and Lavada Faver Cox. Their residence was located in the center of an oil production community and consisted of one structure which contained a US post office, grocery store, gas station, and living quarters for the Cox family. This one-building town was named Anarene, Texas.
Marjorie attended high school in Archer City, Texas and later moved to Portales, New Mexico to work as a bookkeeper and textbook buyer in the Bookstore at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU). Later she continued her education at ENMU and received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, graduating Summa cum laude. Marjorie began employment in the Business Office at ENMU as an accountant for federal grants and contracts while continuing her education there and earned a Masters of Business Administration degree in 1978. In 1995 Marjorie retired after serving her last five years at Eastern New Mexico University as Chief Financial Officer or Comptroller of the university.
Prior to retirement, Marjorie was a member of the Honorary Society of Phi Kappa Phi, numerous professional organizations, the Portales Altrusa Club, and Chapter BE of PEO Sisterhood. Additionally, she was co-owner of Cox Oil Company which she shared with her two sisters, Peggy Gann and Polly Shaw.
During her retirement, Marjorie served as Corporate Executive of Marnaric Press, Inc. and editor of manuscripts prepared for publications in books and newspaper columns by her husband, Antonio Gennaro, Ph.D.
Marjorie and Antonio (Tony) Gennaro were married in Portales, New Mexico in 1980, and she resided there in a beautiful marriage with Tony until his death in 2015.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony; sister Peggy Irene Gann; and stepdaughter Janelle Lawrence.
Surviving Marjorie are three biological children (Charles "Chuck" James, Sheri Wood, and Shana Dictson); two stepchildren (Terri Marney and Carrie Scheufele); and sister Betty Pauline "Polly" Shaw.
No local services will be held in Portales. All services will be private, with Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Raton, New Mexico being the location of eternal rest for Tony and Marjorie. It is there that they will be reunited to continue their loving relationship.
