Maria Wright Bengtson, age 53, passed from this earthly life on April 6, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family in Las Vegas, NV after courageously battling cancer. Maria was born on December 21, 1966 in Las Vegas, NV to Frank (Wright) DeCesare her father and Klara (Rowe) Petersen, her mother.
Maria was a long-time resident of Las Vegas. She graduated from Pineview High School in St. George, UT and attended DeVry Institute in Phoenix where she met Craig Bengtson. She was a proud mother of five incredible children. She was a voracious reader. She was a friend to many. She loved to go to Disneyland with her family. Board games were a favorite family activity. It was hard to beat her.
Maria lived her life full of enthusiasm with focus on serving others. She served others in many different capacities as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For more than two decades she enjoyed her career as a top real estate agent for Taylor Morrison Home Corp., formerly William Lyon Homes, where she both excelled and genuinely loved working. After hours and on her days off Maria shared her wonderful talents of sewing and costume design at Bunker Dance Center where her artistic vision was beautifully displayed in numerous competitions over the past twenty plus years.
She and her husband Craig recently celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary on March 3, 2020. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter Clover Jane Etchison. She is survived by her husband Craig George Bengtson and their five children: Chandra, Justin, Brett, Madison Truman(Foster), and Peyton, and parents Frank DeCesare formerly Wright and stepmother Diane DeCesare, her mother Klara (Rowe) Petersen and stepfather Charles Petersen and siblings Lisa Quintanar (Ringo), Lori Draper (Lance), Darin DeCesare (Caroline) and Kyle Wright (Darcy). She temporarily leaves behind a close-knit family who love her deeply and who look forward to reuniting with her in the eternities.
Funeral services for Maria will not be held at this time due to COVID-19, but the family is planning a celebration of her life when it is safe to do so.
