Margaret was born in East Los Angeles, CA, to Felix W. Montoya and Margaret D. Montoya on April 11, 1937. She moved to Las Vegas, NV, in the early 1960’s to follow her career as an entertainer and had the wonderful opportunity to work with Andy Williams and Danny Kaye. During her dancing career, she proudly performed as a member of the Luisa Triana Dance Company. Margaret worked as a dance instructor for the N. Las Vegas Parks and Recreation in which she began a 45 year journey of teaching at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, Dorothy Frankovich Studio, Marliza’s Studio and UNLV. She co-founded the non-profit organization, the Sociedad Cultural Hispana, Inc. with her husband, Fidel Torea, to promote the Hispanic arts in the Greater Las Vegas Area.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Fidel; parents, Felix and Margaret, and granddaughter, Andrea. She is survived by her two daughters, Rossana Vasquez and Margo Torea; three granddaughters, Leah Orlando, Leslie Deniz and Mina Rudder; and four great-grandchildren, Trey Orlando, Tiana Orlando, Analayah Deniz, and Alexandra Deniz.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on March 23, 2024 at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89123.
