It is with great sadness AND gladness that we report the passing of Margaret (Peggy) Casey, wife, mother, & grandmother in this, her 92nd year. She was battling her 7th cancer & was cared for in the loving home of her daughter, Ann, for the past year. Peggy slipped away peacefully in her sleep after visits from all of her children, grandchildren, daughters-in-law, and pastor. She was an amazing woman; energetic, determined, independent, strong, & adventurous. The first in her family to earn a college degree, made propellers for the war effort, studied Aeronautical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, & cooked at a remote Teton dude ranch in the 1940’s. Together Peggy & Walt, with their own hands, built the home in which they would live for 50+ years; started Walt Casey Water in 1954; & shared 60 years of marriage. Peggy enjoyed people & membership in Mesquite Club, Pi Beta Phi Sorority, PEO, Daughters of the American Revolution, & Master Gardeners. Playing golf from a very young age, usually barefooted, she won a club championship just two years ago as the oldest competitor. Many generations of Golden Retrievers were family pets. She lived life to the fullest right up to the end &, as in life, went out a winner; winning at one of her favorite activities, Bridge, out of 34 couples on the Monday before she died. She asked us to be glad in the living & not to weep. A saying we will most identify with her is “If you must be blue, be a bright blue”. Peggy is survived by her children: Steve (Linda), Mike (Joyce), & Ann; her grandchildren: Mike (Jessica), Betty Shevorsky (Steve), & Scott; Brother-in-Law, Bob Casey; & special friend, Becky Casey. A memorial service will held at Mtn. View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd, Sat., June 23rd at 10:30am. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mesquite Club. Arrangements under the direction of Palm South Jones Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
