Marcial Jorge deCastro passed away on April 8, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born on February 6, 1942, to Pelagia Macalinao Jorge and Jaime Diuco deCastro, Marcial was the youngest of three siblings and was a resident of Skokie, Illinois for over 30 years before retiring with his wife, Victoria, to Las Vegas, in 2005. Marcial and Victoria recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in January.
Early Life and Career: Marcial’s passion for numbers led him to pursue a career as an accountant in the Philippines. He worked for the Auster Company his entire career when he emigrated to the United States in 1972. But beyond the numbers and ledgers, Marcial had a hidden talent—he loved working with his hands. Whether it was remodeling rooms, fixing household appliances, or constant landscaping in the twilight hours, Marcial found solace in creating tangible things.
Faith and Community: A devout Catholic, Marcial was an active member of St. Peter’s Parish in Skokie. He and Victoria attended Mass faithfully, finding solace in daily prayers together each morning and before going to bed. He lived the way Jesus asks us all to live – in loving service to others. His unwavering faith guided him through life’s challenges, and he instilled those values in his children.
Family and Legacy: Marcial leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. Together for 57 years, he and Victoria were inseparable. He was a loving father to his four children: Nilo (Edith), Ariel (Heather), Gary (Sandy), and Kai (Russell) and doting Lolo to his grandkids: Alexandra, Nicholas, Christopher, Alia, Jacob, Isabelle, Carly, Demetrice, Maddi, and Mya. His kids inherited his love for tinkering and craftsmanship, spending weekends outdoors, tools in hand, and learning from their father. They shared his passion for tennis and bowling.
Final Thoughts: As we say goodbye to Marcial, let us remember him as the devoted husband, loving father, and caring and thoughtful friend he was to all of us. His legacy lives on in the hands that create, the prayers whispered in quiet moments, and the joy found in shared passions. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the warmth of all who await him in Heaven.
A visitation for Marcial will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
