Manuel (Manny) R. Mora, Sr., 88, entered into Heaven Tuesday, March 17, 2015. He was born January 26, 1927 to the late Longino Mora and Clara Rosales Mora in Williams, Arizona. Manny dearly loved his country and spent 23 ½ years serving in the military. His first service was as a Marine in action during WWII. He was injured on Okinawa and was awarded the Purple Heart. Upon release from the hospital he was then sent to China where he earned the Bronze Star with Valor. After WWII ended and work so very scarce he reenlisted in the military this time in the US Army. During these years he fought in the Korean War and had two tours in the Vietnam War and finally retired in 1968 as a First Sargent. He loved the Marine Corps and felt that “Once a Marine always a Marine.” Having lived all over the world during his military service he spent his last 13 years in Las Vegas, Nevada. Manny was an avid sports fan especially loving to play golf and bowling. At one time he was so proud of being a member of the Professional Bowlers Senior Tour but health problems forced him to end his participation on the tour and just enjoy league bowling with his many friends. His health the last year forced him to give up both golf and bowling. Manny is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Patti; daughter Valerie (Sky) Sanders (David) of Phoenix, Arizona, niece Virginia Verdugo of Covina, CA, sister Rosemary Remaley of Concord, CA and his very special friends Tim and Patti Miller of Peoria, Arizona as well as Sister Theresa De Feo of Pomona, CA. Patti, Sky, Tim and Patti got to spend quality time at Mountain View Hospital the last two weeks of his life. His wife and friends were there holding his hand as he took his last breath in this world. Manny loved life tremendously and had many friends and will be missed by all. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on March 27, 2015, with a funeral service to be held 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Palm Mortuary Cheyenne with a reception to follow in the same location from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm after which Manny will be cremated and taken back to the home which he loved so much with burial to be decided later and will be at the Boulder City National Cemetery as his final resting place. In lieu of flowers the family would like a donation to be made in Manny’s name to “Gary Sinise Foundation” to be used specifically for the charitable purposes of the Wounded Warrior Project.
