Manuel Montes, 79, of Las Vegas, passed away suddenly Nov. 12, 2013, after a long illness. He was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. "Manny" lived in Youngstown, Ohio, then moved to Las Vegas where he has lived for the last 27 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Manuel Montes; and sister, Minita. He is survived by his loving wife, of 55 years, Candi Montes; mother, Julia Vasquez Montes; sisters, Carmen and Ludin; brother, Justo; sons, Orlando (Leah), Manuel (Marcie) and Robert (Christy); daughter, Sandra Taylor; grandchildren, Jason, Samantha, Shannon, Landon, Drew, Cara, Kailee, Abbigale, Madison and Gracen; and great-grandchild, Gregory "AJ." Manuel was blessed with many close, loving family members and friends. He will be sadly missed by all. Visitation for Manuel will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas. Burial will follow at Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
