It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of LouAnna D. Martin who went to be with the Lord on May 13th, 2023. Born December 17th, 1950, to Bill & Rita Cooper, she was the middle child and grew up traveling frequently throughout the Midwest & Southwest United States as the daughter of an oil rig driller.
When LouAnna was about 12 years old she moved to Las Vegas for a period of time, during this stint she attended Hyde Park Junior High along with Jerry Martin. LouAnna’s older sister Carolyn also became the best of friends with MaryAnn Martin. Over the years, LouAnna continued to move and lived several years as a teenager in Huntington Beach, CA where she graduated from West Minster High School in 1969.
Upon moving back to Las Vegas, LouAnna and Jerry were reunited, fell in love, and were married in September of 1971. LouAnna & Jerry became parents to their first child, Billy, in the summer of 1972 which started LouAnna’s lifelong career of homemaker and stay at home Mom. They completed their family with the birth of their second child, Amber, in 1982. LouAnna was forever proud of her children, continually bragging about them as her greatest blessings.
In the late 1990’s LouAnna started her career outside the home as a florist with Kroger stores where she enjoyed working with flowers and created many cherished friendships.
Shortly after retiring from Kroger, LouAnna was promoted to Grandma with the birth of her first and only grandchild, who she loved deeply and fiercely.
LouAnna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her greatest treasure in life was her family, which was evident in her generosity, acts of kindness, and selflessness. God blessed her with a heart of endless love and sassiness. She will be missed dearly.
LouAnna is survived by her adoring husband of 51 years Jerry Martin and their 2 children: Billy (wife Azumi) and Amber (husband Shawn), and one grandson. She also leaves behind a sister, Rebecca Neal-Cooper (Bob), sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews, and many others who loved her dearly.
LouAnna was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Rita Cooper and her oldest sister Carolyn Thompson. LouAnna was strong in her faith and we find comfort knowing she has been restored in health and is walking side by side with our Lord and Savior.
Please share your memories and photos here for the family to cherish. Thank you.
