Lester attended Carthage High School in Carthage, Arkansas before enlisting in the United States Army as an artillery specialist serving in the Korean Conflict. After leaving the military, Lester moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1956 where he resided until his death. Lester worked as a skycap at McCarran International Airport, a taxi cab driver for Yellow Cab and a bus driver and tour director for Grayline Bus Services.
After a short stint in the transportation industry, Lester found his calling in the theater and film production industry as a stage technician .He worked on a number of national film projects and on the Las Vegas Strip through the stagehand employee’s union, I.A.T.S.E. Local 720. After 35+ years of service as a stagehand, Lester retired but continued to work on-call through Local 720 until the time of his death.
Lester attended Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ and was a true believer in the Lord. Lester was an extraordinary man with a very dynamic and out-going personality. He had an exuberance for life and touched the heart of everyone he met and left a lasting impression on those he came in contact with.
Lester was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Coleman, and sister, Shirley Jean Coleman. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Shirley Ann Coleman; two daughters, Sharon Jackson (Chris) and Shani Coleman; one brother Thomas Coleman (Jeralyn); five sisters, Dorothy Conger (Bill), Fannye J Coleman, Alyse Hill and Ann Coleman, all of Las Vegas, Nevada and Sarah Hartman (Harvey) of Rialto, California; two granddaughters, Jasmine Cole and Brianna Perkins Parscha; three great-grandchildren, Dominic, Malaya and Tye, all of Las Vegas, Nevada, and a host of relatives and friends. Lester will be missed and will forever remain in our hearts.
