Leonard Paul DeFilippo, 83 of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 5, 2024. Len was born on September 12th, 1940 to Vito and Marta (aka Pops and Bobbie) in New York City. After he graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in 1958, he went on to complete his BA in Psychology at Windsor University in Ontario, Canada. His post graduate work consisted of an MSc in Counseling from UNLV.
Len worked as a Supervisor and Licensed Counsellor for over 25 years at The Community Counseling Center in Las Vegas. Throughout his life he was an avid reader in a wide variety of subjects.
Len was predeceased by his father Vito, mother Marta, brother Pat, sister-in-law Yolanda, and brother-in-law John.
He will be remembered lovingly by his son Vito (spouse Chantal and grandsons Félix and Luca), his daughter Jessica (husband Peter and grandsons Marcus and Kaplan) and their mother Patricia Everitt, his sister Anita (daughters Val and Judith), his nieces Marta (husband Richard and children Adrienne and Nick), Maria (husband Pat and daughter Marisa), and his nephews Vito and Pat (children Isabella, Sophia, Gianna and Pat Jr.) as well as many other relatives, friends and coworkers.
A service will be held at Palm Mortuary on Eastern Avenue on June 15. Doors open at 11:00am with readings at 11:30am. There will also be a mass dedicated to Len at St. Viator, the church he regularly attended. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
