Lean-Lee Christina Low of Henderson, Nevada left this earthly existence for her eternal home in Heaven on June 8, 2015 at 4:02am in the company of her children, May-Ie Tan, Jay-Hun Low, Jan-Ie Low, and Jay-Son Low. She was 78 years young. Lean-Lee, or Christina as she was known here in the US, was the 4th of six children born to Mr. Thean Hoe Cheah and Madam Hun Kin Keong of Penang, Malaysia. She is survived by her four children and her son-in-law, Teong Hin Tan, and her daughter-in-law, Sothy Low; her grandson, Deric Cho; her three granddaughters, Chea-Lene, Chea-Mun, and Chea-Ler Tan (all named after her maiden name); her sisters Juliana Yap of Malaysia and Julie Ang of Singapore; and many other relatives all across the world. Christina was a trailblazer in a time when Chinese women had limited opportunities in a Muslim country; she was a gifted athlete in netball and an accomplished nurse who was selected to represent her country for the Red Cross in an exchange program to England. She later became an English teacher in her hometown of Penang, where she met her husband, Mr. Kim-Teik Low, and together they built a publishing company. When an opportunity came to pursue the “American Dream,” Christina fearlessly left all that was familiar and ventured to a foreign country with her four young children in tow to join her brother, Dr. Keong-Chye Cheah, and his family in Tacoma, Washington, leaving her husband behind in Hong Kong to set up business so he can provide for the family. The time apart took a toll on her marriage, but she never regretted making any sacrifices for her children. Christina was an entrepreneur at heart, opening a gift shop and running various businesses, including being one of the top Mary Kay beauty consultants in her district. Her passion for food led her to start her own catering business and her fondness of children eventually landed her at the Clover Park School District as a cafeteria lead for a decade. In her retirement, Christina moved to Nevada in 2005 and was instrumental in establishing her family business, SATAY Thai Bistro & Bar in Las Vegas. Christina lived a full and selfless life, never asking for anything or taking from anyone. She is now called home among the angels. A viewing will be held at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, Nevada 89123 on Sunday, June 14 from 3pm-7pm. Funeral Service is on Monday, June 15, 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2300 Sunridge Heights Pkwy, Henderson, Nevada 89052 followed by interment at Palm Eastern Mortuary.
