Laura's love in her heart knew no bounds for the people and pets close to her, ranging from her immediate family to childhood friends she rediscovered later in life. Laura always had positive messages to share and always maintained a positive outlook despite enduring many years of chronic pain and ill health.
Laura was born February 12, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Charles William Moyer and Romayne Johnson Moyer. She stayed close to her parents throughout her life. Her father, a World War II D-Day veteran, obtained employment with Braniff Airlines and moved his wife, Laura and her sister Stephanie to Miami Springs, Florida while Laura was a toddler.
The family lived on a freshwater lake with their own private dock, a sailboat and a row boat. Many of Laura's fondest memories were those of spending time on the lake and going fishing with her father in the Florida Keys. She made many dear friends in Miami Springs who remained friends for life. The Moyers traveled extensively as her father rose through the ranks at the airline. Laura often spoke of her trips to Europe and the Caribbean.
Laura and her parents relocated to Amarillo, Texas, during her senior year in high school. Though she was taken from the friends and surroundings she grew up with, she found new ways to enjoy life, especially in riding horses. In 1978, the airline relocated the Moyers to Las Vegas, Nevada. Laura chose to stay close to her parents even in adulthood.
Laura married the love of her life, Kevin R. Malone, in March, 1996. The couple had one beautiful son, Nicholas, who Laura loved more than anything else. Laura's other loves were her many dogs, who she treasured throughout their lives. She kept a memory or memento of every one of them.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents. Her mother passed in 2018. Her father followed a year later in 2019. She is survived by husband Kevin Malone of Henderson, son Nicholas Ian Malone of Honolulu, Hawaii, and sister Stephanie Pasanen of Tucson, Arizona.
She will be remembered for deep-down love and devotion to her family, friends and pets. In lieu of flowers or remembrances, please send a donation to the animal rescue charity of your choice.
