Kevin Newton was born on May 10, 1966 to Lee Newton and Carole Jones in Lynwood, CA. He graduated from Crenshaw “Cougars” High School in Los Angeles. He was proud of his participation in the marching band; where he played the clarinet and flute. Kevin graduated from Norfolk University in Virginia. There he became a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He later moved to New Orleans where he immersed himself into the culture and lived most of his adult life. He called New Orleans his home.
He was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. He was called into the ministry and received his Ministers License in 2008. He was a member of New Bethel Church of God in Christ.
He loved his New Orleans Saint’s football team; he would not miss a game and wore the Saints jersey with pride almost daily. He travelled all over the country visiting HBCUs, hanged with his furry friend Teddy, attended sporting events and enjoyed culinary cuisine; how he loved sweets. The grass never grew under his feet. Most of all he loved his family and being a Phi Beta Sigma; yes, that is why he wore all that blue when he was not wearing his Saints. He touched so many lives via social media and with everyone he met.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, 3/20/2021 at 11:00 am, Palm South Jones Mortuary, 1600 S Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, Nevada 89146.
Kevin Newton's final resting place will be Mt. Olivet Cemetery in New Orleans.
