Kenneth J. Ryan was born July 25, 1936, in Beach, N.D., and passed away May 31, 2013, in Las Vegas, after battling melanoma. As a young boy, Ken moved to Bowman, N.D., where he spent his childhood. He graduated from Bowman High School and went to North Dakota State University College of Pharmacy, where he graduated in 1958 with a degree in pharmacy. He served in the U.S. Air Force as pharmacy officer, two years at Fort Worth, Texas, and one year in Thule, Greenland. Ken worked one year in Milbank, S.D., and then moved to Las Vegas in 1963, where he owned a professional pharmacy for 21 years. He finished his career in pharmacy, working 14 years for University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine at Campus Pharmacy. Ken Retired in 2011 after practicing 54 years of pharmacy. He met the love of his life, Sandie Kleeman soon after moving to Las Vegas. They married in 1966 and had three children. The loves in Ken's life were his family, religion, pharmacy and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Ken was also a huge UNLV Runnin' Rebels fan. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Lenore Ryan of Bowman; and brother, Jim Ryan of Phoenix. He is survived by his wife, Sandie; their children, Michelle (Dennis) Gutwald, and their children, Sam and Emily, and Timothy C. Ryan and Jennifer (Glen) Hardman, and their children, Mike and Carter, all of Las Vegas. He is also survived by his two sisters, Marge (George) Vorgitch of Oxnard, Calif., and Donna (Pete) Ortega of Las Vegas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at Christ the King Catholic Community Church, 4925 S.
