Kenneth V. Givens, D.D.S., age 84, of Las Vegas, passed away February 12, 2014. Ken was born May 7, 1929 in Elk City, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school in Richmond, California, he honorably served in the United States Air Force and attended USC before graduating from the University of Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1959. He opened his dental practice in 1960, which he enjoyed until he retired after more than 40 years of doing what he loved most -- helping and "entertaining" his patients. Ken was past president of the Kiwanis Club of Las Vegas and a Boy Scout leader for his two sons, Michael and Mitchell. He also served as president of the Clark County Dental Society from 1964-1965. Ken was a compassionate, gentle man who spent his retirement years working on his computer, enjoying family, friends and events at Linda Rankin Givens Elementary School. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Givens; sons, Michael (Celia) Givens, Mitchell Givens; step-daughter Michelle (Randy) Jenkins; stepsons Michael McDonald, Donald (Jill) Prunty; daughter-in-lawRhonda Houston; sister in law, Barbara Rankin and grandchildren Alexander and Jessica Givens; Marissa and Lance Moesser; Montana Jenkins; Morgan McDonald; Jacob, Brandon and Tiffany Prunty; and many relatives and friends. A reception celebrating Ken's Life will beginat3pm Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Palm Mortuary Hospitality Center, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas. His final resting place will beatSouthern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City where a private family service will be held.
