Katherine spent her childhood active in the ballet community, in her younger teenage years she assisted in teaching young girls. She also was active in gymnastics, as well as competing in beauty pageants where she was crowned Jr. Miss. Nevada. Katherine also dabbled in modeling, doing various gigs around Las Vegas. She was a very beautiful and vivacious woman.
In 1978 she met Val Chamberlain while working at Lake Mead Hospital, she worked in administration at the time. Kathy and Val both have wonderful stories about how they instantly fell for each other. On Friday June, 1st, 1979, Katherine J. Baker and Val C. Chamberlain joined their hands in marriage. They had 43 beautiful years together. Val had 2 children, Stacie and Eric Chamberlain, from a prior marriage, which she always loved as her own.
After a long journey, Katherine found out she was pregnant in 1985, while she was being diagnosed with MS. On Friday, November 22 1985, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Carrie R. Chamberlain. Having her own baby made up for a lot of the tribulations she went through while learning to navigate her new diagnoses.
Katherine lived a wonderful, happy life. She always had a smile on her face that would light up any room. Her hugs were always warm and genuine, and her kisses always sloppy and sweet. She never let anything keep her down for long, and seldomly showed when it did. She was an incredibly strong woman, and is a huge inspiration to us all.
