Julie "Chris" Gaynor

JULIE CHRISTINE “CHRIS” GAYNOR-YEVTICH, 52, formerly of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away March 18, 2022 at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas after a courageously fought battle against metastatic melanoma.

Chris was born December 2, 1969 in San Francisco, CA to John Simon and Kathleen Jill Gaynor. She spent her childhood years in Reno, Nevada. Her family relocated to Las Vegas in 1983 where she graduated from Valley High School in 1988, being named a high school All American in Tennis.

She attended the University of San Diego her freshman year of college and went on to study at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas, graduating with a degree in Business Administration in 1993.

After graduating she kick-started her banking career with Nevada State Bank. During her years in the banking industry, she served as Vice President and Relations Development Officer for both Service 1st Bank and Bank of Nevada until June 2020.

In 2012, she was ranked third nationally in women’s 40 singles in tennis. In 2014, she won a bronze ball (3rd) in women’s age 40 indoor national championships. In 2018 she and her husband won a gold ball (1st) in husband/wife combined age 100 hard-court national championships. She continued to play competitive tennis until her illness prevented her from competing.

Chris met her husband, Miroslav “Misha” Yevtich in Las Vegas. They were married on October 12, 2013 and lived in Las Vegas prior to moving to Houston, TX to be closer to her doctors. They had no children.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Jill Gaynor and both her maternal grandparents, Ken and Charlotte Dennis, Reno, NV and paternal grandparents, Dr. John and Joan Gaynor, Elko, NV.

Chris is survived by her husband, Misha, her father and step-mother, John and JoAnne Gaynor, her sister Jennifer Cari Gaynor, step-sister Brooke (David) Shinsky, niece, Lulu, in-laws Milorad and Mirjana Yevtich, sister-in-law, Marija (Ivan) Stefanovic, nieces and nephew, Jelena, Aleksandra and Igor, who all live in Belgrade, Serbia and her two fur babies, Charlie and Gigi.

Services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022, 5:00 p.m. at Palm Mortuary, 7600 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Green Our Planet School Garden Program (greenourplanet.org) that Chris loved working with or Hope Church (hopechurchlv.com) that Chris was spiritually involved with.
