Joyce Hess McCabe

April 23, 2020 in Las Vegas, NV. Born on September 22, 1941 in Washington, D.C. she was the

daughter of the late Thaddeus Stevens and Catherine Estelle Hess (Scheytt).

She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy

Jones-Lepp (Stephen Lepp), brother Thaddeus S. Hess, III (Janet McGrane), and brother-in-law

Merlyn Soukup; 3 grandchildren, Kellie Marie, Catherine Marie, and Henry Alexander; as well

as her nieces, Pam Shaw and Erica Powell; and nephews, Michael Soukup and Thaddeus S Hess,

Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Sue Schavey, and her sister, Gail Soukup.

Joyce moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1972, to become the Director of Medical Records at Valley

Hospital. Later she went on to become the Director of Medical Records at Desert Springs

Hospital, and finally retired from medical records at UMC-Las Vegas. She was awarded

numerous awards for her diligence and successfully helping her hospitals pass many Joint

Commission inspections. After retirement she spent many days loving on her grandchildren, of

whom she was very proud. They loved to bake together and watch soap operas together. She

loved animals, and always donated to her favorite charity, the NSPCA, https://nevadaspca.org.

There will be no services at this time. When the pandemic subsides there will be a Celebration

of Life service scheduled at a later time.
