Jose ‘Dan’ Lugtu Centeno was born on May 28, 1957 on a beautiful Spring day in Angeles City, Philippines. He was the seventh of ten children to the late, Gerardo Centeno Sr. and Macaria Lugtu. Growing up, Dan was a bright young man with big hopes and dreams. On August 1977, he met a beautiful lady that would soon be his wife and the mother of his children, Elizabeth. Due to immigration laws with the plans to eventually go to America, they held off on getting married until it was the right time. In the summer of June 1982, they were blessed with their first child, Jerold. Five years later, they welcomed their second child, Jermaine, who is the ‘Mi¬ni-Dan’ of the family. Dan and Elizabeth didn’t have much, their money was little, but their hearts were full, and their blessings were abundant. He was a great father to his children, and Dan had hopes and dreams of bringing his family to America for a better life.
A year later, 1987, Dan and his siblings arrived to Florida, USA. They were only there for a month, and eventually were called to Portland, Oregon where his two sisters resided. He started his first job at Red Lion Hotel, and a year later he became a welder and kept that job for over 10 years. Meanwhile in the Philippines, on May 1990, he finally was able to marry the love of his life, Elizabeth. A year later, God had answered their prayers, and gave them a beautiful daughter, Jacqueline. In 1996, Dan’s dreams of bringing his family to America have come true. They joined him at Portland, Oregon, along with the rest of his sibling’s families. Life back then was simple, but the family was complete, and that’s all that mattered. In 1998, the family, along with his other sibling’s families, all moved to Las Vegas, NV where they all still currently reside to this day.
Dan was a great provider for his family. He was a man with very few words, but knew how to make the room laugh with his sense of humor. He was smart, and took care of all the handy-man things in the house. It was always the little things that mattered. He was a great father and a loving husband. He is now the angel watching over his family in Heaven. He will be dearly missed by all his loved ones.
Dan passed away at Las Vegas, NV on April 23, 2022. He was 64. Dan is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his sons Jerold and Jermaine; his daughter Jacqueline; his daughter in-laws, Vanessa and Earlene, his grandchildren, Blake, Sophia, and Adrielle; his brothers Elpidio, Gerardo Jr., and Crisanto; and his sisters Normita and Narcissa.
