John Stolarick, age 94, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. John was born in 1930 in Larksville, PA in the house built by his father. He attended grade school in Larksville and then in the rural town of Loyalville, PA, following his family’s move to a farm. John later began high school at Lake Twp. High School. His mother and father later moved to Trucksville, PA with John and his sister, Dolores, where John attended Kingston Twp. High School, graduating in 1947.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps., and later studied music at the West Chester State Teachers College. His strong interest in Aviation, however, led him to become a private pilot and to work at the Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Company and Capital Airlines based in Washington, DC. From there, John studied Engineering at the University of Virginia Extension in Arlington, VA and at George Washington University, and he started working in the Army helicopter program at the Army Transportation Corps. He enjoyed a 31-year career with the Army, where he participated in the development of helicopters such as the Huey, Chinook, and Cheyenne. He participated in major Army programs including the first Night Vision project and other technology improvement programs. John and his family resided in Nevada for 32 years.
John is survived by his wife, Ruth; loving son, Chad and wife Elizabeth; granddaughter, Cynthia; grandson, Dimitri; Adopted daughter Debbie; Stepsons Rick; and Sister-in-law Donna Alderton. He is pre-deceased by his father, Stephen; mother, Mary; sisters, Elizabeth and Dolores, and; brothers, Joseph, Albert, George, and Stephen; and stepson Jeff.
