I am so sad that I have been out of touch for the last two years, and just learned of your passing. To say that my heart is broken would be an understatement. You were a very bright light for me, always. You were kind, funny, entertaining, full of wit and charm, and also responsible for the name of my alter ego, “Alyssa Scandalous.” Although our friendship was never judged by time apart, only time together, I am so very sad that I wasn’t there to celebrate your life with the rest of your family and friends. I hope that you have run into my mother in heaven by now. Can’t wait to hear the stories. Love you forever! Merry Christmas in heaven, my sweet friend.♥️

I randomly thought of John this morning and realized I hadn’t seen a post from him on FB or IG in awhile so I went to his page and saw a lot of messages of love and sorrow. I googled and my fears were confirmed. My dear sweet John...you were a good friend in high school and a source of hugs and laughter. As my neighbor you were the source of endless rides in the pickup truck, practical jokes, loud music, and cheer gossip. You survived Hodgkins and then you survived high school by being unapologetically 100% yourself...at a time when that was not as accepted as it is now. I’m so glad that we at least reconnected years ago on social media. I’m beyond sorry that we never made time to meet up again. Rest In Peace my old friend and my spirited little Conquistador. 💛

Dear sweet John,
You were one of my best friends from the crew in high school ...soooo many memories.  Nights dancing, beach days/nights in Encinitas, duct tape, football games, cheer, toe touches and can't forget jagger and cards (ugh!).  I’m so honored to say you were a huge part of my life and I got to see you become and conquer your passion and dreams in Vegas as a club promoter.  You would be so proud of me; always told me to embrace my silliness and spunk & who cares what others think. You are right...I am doing that!  I love you Slaughter.  You will always be my Ducky!

Known you 30+years. Yep. When you were John and then “Ducky”.  I’m so hurt, torn, miss you, cannot believe I can’t call u or see u!  Even though it could go a couple years... Knew u in Vegas, then in L.A., then back In Vegas. Hunter happened in ‘02  cus you “ok’d” John K, remember? I will eternally cherish our special moments, your heart, your soul, you! Something, no, everything was so special about u. I love you duckman/John. My heart n love goes out to your mom, dad, sister, nephew,  family, sorry I never got closer To them over all these years. You had such a meaningful impact when we were “there” for each other.  Sorry you left us all so soon.... here’s a pic Sept 2009 - met for lunch in Summerlin! 

Ducky was such a warm and loving person. He lit up a room. He always made everyone around him feel special.

Ducky was my brothers manager (slow to surface) I've known him for 20+yrs! I'm devastated! Such a great human being and an immense loss of life and talent! He will always be near and dear to my heart! God only takes the good ones! Rest in peace and love! You will truly be missed! 

Ducky, I will miss you and the many years working together at the nightlife scene when I was living in Vegas. We had a lot of memories. RIP Ducky! I love you and will miss you greatly.

There will be a reception tomorrow Sunday June 9th after the funeral services at The Golden Tiki Bar. We will be set up in the back room with some Tiki Punch to relax and celebrate the life of our beloved Ducky (John) Slaughter ❤️

Ducky and I had been friends for over 20 years and started M.A.D.A.M (Music Artist Development And Management) together.  I have so many memories of us and will be forever heartbroken over his passing. I love you Ducky ❤️

John “Ducky” The memories are long, and many. I remember when we met at KLUC, and worked together in the early 90’s. I watched you blossom at KUNV, winning music director of the year, and your career in the record business. Rest easy, my long time friend. You touched many, and were taken too soon. 💔
