John G. Mormon, of Las Vegas, passed away October 21, 2013. He was born June 2, 1923, in Rockaway, New York. A teacher with the Clark County School District for 17 years, he taught math and science in New York prior to moving to Las Vegas in 1972. He taught landscape design at the State University of New York at Farmingdale and in 1957 was recruited to teach science in public schools. He proudly served his country in combat in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific. During the Civil Rights movement of the 1970's, he served as an integration consultant for the Ohio State University. After retirement, he pursued his creative gifts of writing, painting and sculpting. John was an avid reader and world traveler.
He is missed by his loving wife, family and friends who will cherish the time they enjoyed with him during his 90 wonderful years on Earth.
