He was born on July 18, 1928, his parents the late Tommy Lynch and the late Gladys Martin.
John was born and raised in Evington, VA. As an older teenager he lived in Washington DC
for a short period of time before joining the US Army post World War ll. He was a military
police officer, and was stationed in Mainland Japan. After completing his service for his
Country, John moved to Cleveland Ohio where he married Anita B. Collins on June 29,
1952. On June 7, 1955 their son Tommy Lynch was born.
John worked over 30 years for the General Motors Corporation and retired. During that
time he divorced from his first wife and married the late Louise R. Hall on July 29, 1977. John and Louise moved to Las Vegas in 1988. He and Louise truly loved Las Vegas, where both spent the rest of their lives together. He is survived by his son Tommy Lynch, AZ, grandson Thomas C. Lynch, CA, his daughters Cheryl Henderson, IL, and Renee Paige, OH, two granddaughters, seven great grandchildren, brother Lawrence Lynch, VA, sister in-law Juanita Lynch, VA, two nieces Theresa Patterson, OH, and Cathy Eddie,
OH, and a host of relatives and friends.
John loved cars. He could fix anything on a car. His favorites were the 1964 Chevy Corvair
and 1989 Lincoln Town Car. One of John’s fondest moments is when he met the late Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. and presented him with a document called “The Clock of Destiny”
during the March On Washington in 1963. He also sat only several feet from Dr. King’s left
side during his famous “ I Have A Dream” speech.
