On August 13, 1929 Joe Cooper Sr. and Anna Smith Cooper welcomes to the world Joe Cooper Jr. (Baby Joe) the 9th of 10 children in Ascension, Louisiana. While in LA Joe married Flossie L. Edison; from that union three children were born. IN 1965 he married Alma Raye Alexander, from that union 1 child was borm. In 1952 Joe moved to Las Vegas where he worked for Republic Services for 35 years as a pitcher, he also worked at the Rivera Hotel for 20 years as a dishwasher. He was known for his outgoing personality, a giving person, and a hardworking man.
Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alma Raye Cooper, 2 daughters (Dorothy Lee and Olivia), 1 sister Lillie, 5 brothers (Frank, William, Charlie, James, and George). He leaves to cherish his memory 4 children Joe Cooper III, Connie Douglas, Jerry L. Cooper, and Sharon Upton. 10 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sister Rosie Wicks, brother Ennis Cooper Sr., and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 23, 2014 from 3-7pm at Palm Mortuary Downtown, 1325 N Main Street, with funeral services Saturday, May 24, 2014, starting at 11am at Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89106; services conclude at Woodlawn Cemetery
