He attended Sierra Nevada Job Corp and later enlisted in the United States Army. During his time in combat Joe received A Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal of Honor, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantrymen Badge, and a Sharpshooter (riffle) badge. Shortly after discharge he became a Bell Captain working for The Las Vegas Show Boat where he met and married his wife Nettie Brown of 32 years. He went on to become and bricklayer and finally retired from The EOB as a driver.
Joe is proceeding in death by his grandparents Richard and Onnie Maxey, Father Elvie Young, Mother Irene Hunnicutt, three sisters Sarah Hunnicutt, Pamela Murray, and Mildred Marion; One brother Joe young , and his son Paul Brown.
Joe didn’t just live life he embraced every minute of it. he definitely made his presence known wherever he went and in his downtime he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.
In his time of passing he is survived by his wife Nettie Brown, two daughters Roshanda Turner and Shalonda Mollette, his son Jonathan Brown Jr, son in law Clabon Mollette, his uncle Dink (DJ) Maxey, four sisters Margaret Hunnicutt, Alta Haynes, Costella Hunnicutt, and Lucile Hunnicutt, 7 grandchildren and a host of nephews, niece, family and friends.
