Joan M. "Joanie" Oberlin, age 78, of Pahrump, and formerly of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born June 11, 1936, in Manhattan, N.Y., she was a southern Nevada resident since 1972. Mrs. Oberlin worked as a dealer for the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino and Mountain View Casino. After retiring, she could be found playing video poker at her favorite casinos. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J.; two sisters; and one brother. Joan is survived by her sister, Betty Leon; her children, Ken and John Oberlin and Julie (Michael) Kucala; grandchildren, J.D. MacArthur, and Brian and Jared (Kaitlyn) Glade; and great-grandchildren, Xavier and Brentley, and one on the way. Family will receive friends 3-7 p.m. Sunday, June 7, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Monday, June 8, at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3036 Alta Drive, Las Vegas. Burial following at 1:20 p.m., at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
