Jo Ann Marie Whaley Berry, 82, of Las Vegas, died April 27, 2018. She was born October 12, 1935 in Ardmore, Oklahoma and had lived in Las Vegas for 47 years. She attended the Ardmore, Oklahoma Public schools, Dunbar Elementary and Douglass High School. She graduated from Douglass High in 1953. Jo Ann also attended Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma. Jo Ann was employed with the Clark County School District as a food service worker for 20 years retiring from James Cashman Jr. High School in 1992. Jo Ann married Jimmy V. Berry in 1957. To this union, two children were born, a daughter, Carla, and a son, Kelvin. Jo Ann united with the Second Baptist Church in 1982 and served actively. The love of her life was cooking, entertaining family and friends, and a love of gospel music. Jo Ann was preceded in death by parents, Sybil Wilson and Clifford Whaley, and her husband, Jimmy. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Palm Mortuary Downtown, 1325 N. Main Street and 10-11 a.m. Monday, May 7th with services to immediately follow both at Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Avenue. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
