Jewel Alvarez, 79, of Las Vegas, passed away Jan. 21, 2011. She was a homemaker, born April 9, 1931, in Collierville, Tenn. She is survived by her husband, of 46 years, Mike Alvarez, of Las Vegas; daughter, Gail Schaus, of Las Vegas; daughter, Yvonne (Charles) Koch, of Henderson; son, Kirk Thompson, of Las Vegas; grandsons, Michael Schaus, Trevor Schaus and Matthew Thompson; grand-daughter, Julian Thompson; sister, Marie (Eddie) Garland, of Collierville; sister, Sue Peterson, of Collierville; brother, Robert (Janis) Hampton, of Denver; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26. Services at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Interment to follow services at 3 p.m., at Palm Valley View Cemetery.
