He attended Choctaw County Schools of Alabama. He was employed at General Motors in Dayton, Ohio as a Supervisor for 30 years. After retiring from General Motors, he worked at the Roto Rooter Company for ten years.
Jesse lived in Ohio for 47 years attending Bethel Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio. Upon retirement in Ohio, he relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. In Las Vegas he joined Mt. Zion Full Gospel Fellowship Church under the leadership of Rev. J. Wayne Arnold. In November, 2005 he joined Greater Evergreen M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Whitney.
Jesse briefly worked at Santa Fe Hotel as a Keno Runner for about two years and left there to become known as the "Xango Distributor". He helped many people as the distributor of this product. Jesse had a special way of touching the hearts of all those around him. He was a caring and loving person.
His daughter, Pamela, recalls that his special saying was that "the Lord was always with him and that if he felt any better that the Lord wouldn't be able to stand him". The family remembers recall that even while he was in pain, he never let them know nor did he show it.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Iola, four brothers, Tommy Lee Roberts, Andrew Roberts, Lawrence Roberts and Jerry Roberts. He leaves to cherish his memory, children: Jesse P. Roberts, III, Pamela E. Roberts and David A. Roberts, sisters: Betty (Davis) Watson, Florietta Roberts, Melvina Turner, Florence (Timothy) Dixon and Sadie M. Cade, brother: Willie C. Roberts. His grandchildren: LaQueshia Roberts, Anthony Brown, Jessica Roberts, Jessie Roberts, Tiffany Roberts, David Roberts and Rhea Johnson. Three great children: Antoine Davis, Aioynia Brown and Deajah Pimpskin. 20 nieces and nephews and a host of cousins. His special friends in Ohio: Leonard Spears, Charles Blueberry and John Baker. He had many friends in the Las Vegas area who will miss him dearly.
Jesse leaves the following message to his family:
"Dry your tears, I'm Home,
There is no more sorrow or pain;
Today nor Tomorrow - I'm Home.
Be Brave Family and Friends, Remember Me,
I'm Home with my Heavenly Father.
I'm Home"
