Jerry Tarkanian was a man of honer and stood up for what he believes was right. Never backing down to authority. One of the best college basketball coaches of all time. The 1977, 87 @ 90 teams were just awesome.

JERRY'S passing away has left a great void in all our lives.  He will be missed dearly. I can still see him biting down on that towel he had while coaching during the games at  UNLV.  ....BLESSINGS and PRAYERS to FAMILY & FRIENDS

I would have normally attended the Funeral Service today, but both of my vehicles are not working. As a Knight of Columbus I planned to be at Our Lady of Las Vegas RCC Parish. I came to Las Vegas the year that the Running Rebels WON the National Championship. Tark has therefore always been a legend ever since. RIP Tark. AMEN

I knew Tark  back in the early 80's. I had dinner with him a few times when visiting Vegas and each time people would come up to the table wanting his autograph or thanking him for all he had done for UNLV. He was always very charming and gracious and treated me like a daughter. He will be missed. RIP Jerry

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jerry Tarkanian.  One reason Coach Tark was so special was that he personified warmth and openness, unlike many of the coaches of his day.  I've lived in this town for over 60 years, and NEVER have I ever seen a town so embracing a coach and team as I did in the 1990 aftermath of the Championship game. Red cars with sharks painted or adorned on them were abundant in the 1990-1991 days of basketball. Coach Tark brought that sense of community to Las Vegas. Never since duplicated.  What a legacy Coach Tark has left behind.  We were all blessed to share a little bit of his life with him.  God Bless the family and friends with memories of warm and happy times shared.  Rest in peace, Coach.  You were the best!

Jerry Tarkanian brought excitement and magic to U.N.L.V. sports with his 'run and gun' style of play. We didn't miss a game, and will never forget 1990 and 1991 seasons.

Just wanted to share with someone that I'm happy that JT came to Vegas.  At a time that we were transforming from a town to a city, he helped give us a sense of community, that was being lost as corporations took over the hotels and "family owned caring about employees places", were on the long list of never to be again here.
