Jerry Harper, 57, of North Las Vegas, passed away Sept. 8, 2011. He was born June 26, 1954, in Cincinnati, and was a 30-year resident of Nevada. Jerry was a Clark County firefighter for 20 years. He was the past president of the Professional Black Firefighters of Clark County, member of the NAACP of Las Vegas, member of International Association of Black Firefighters, a graduate of EDI (Executive Development Institute), a member of Alpha PSI Alpha, a deacon of Shadow Faith Church Ministries and a graduate of Bowling Green University. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Powell-Harper; father, Luther William Luther Harper; and brothers, Likel (Anna) and Larry Harper. Jerry is survived by his sons, Jameel Jay Anderson-Harper of Henderson, and Jacob (Tiffany) Harper of Maumee, Ohio; aunt, Marion (Arthur) Moore of Cincinnati; and fiancee, Bobbie Gordon. Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.
