Jeanne Block-Giampa, age 94, of Las Vegas, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014. Born September 29, 1919 in Chicago, she had been a Las Vegas resident for more than 65 years. Mrs. Block-Giampa worked as a proof-reader in insurance before leaving to raise her family. She dedicated her time to helping others; her favorite activity helping disabled children at Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital, now known as UMC. She was an avid supporter of the Salvation Army and enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She enjoyed living in Las Vegas and celebrated all it had to offer, seeing shows, experiencing various cuisines and especially dancing. Jeanne was a classy dresser and dressed PROPERLY for every occasion. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerome and her sister Harriet Kanter. Survivors include her husband, Tony; sons Philip (Betty) Block and Brian Block; grandchildren: Leslie and Jordan (Stevie) Block. A memorial service will be held at 5pm on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, Nevada 89146. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jeanne's name are suggested to the Salvation Army of Southern Nevada, 2900 Palomino Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89107.
