Jay M Mortensen, 94, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away Sept 23, 2014. He was born on Aug. 29, 1920 in Tremonton Utah, raised in Ellwood, and graduated from Box Elder High School in 1938. Jay enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and went on to serve during WWII and Korea, and retired after 29 years of services in 1971. He married the love of his life Mary Ellen Jenkins on Nov. 17, 1945, and together, they had four children. He was a loving husband, father, & grandfather who loved spending time with his family, flying, and fishing. Jay was preceded in death by his parents Jed and Rebecca; two siblings: Beth and Lola; his loving wife of 58 years, Mary; and son, Patrick. He is survived by three children: Sharon, Karen, and Terry; two siblings: Rex and Jean; and three grandchildren: Amber, Laurel, and Devyn.
