Janice is survived by; her sister Jill Thacker, long time love, John Vowell, daughters, Christina (Ray) Sawyer and Lori Fitzgerald. She was the proud grandmother to Nicholle (Rian) Heide, Parker Fitzgerald, Courtney (Mitchell) Sharp, Madeline Fitzgerald (Casey), Sebastian Fitzgerald and Frankie Fitzgerald. Family was everything to Janice.
Janice graduated from the Wasatch Academy, then attended college at Dixie State University, in St. George, Utah. Janice started her career as a beautician and spent most of her working years as a Construction Manager, retiring in the late 90’s.
Being a mother was a title she cherished more than any other. She was a fierce defender of her daughters, their cheerleader, their constant confidant and friend. She held them as her greatest accomplishments – putting them first in all she did.
Janice and John spent the past 35 years enjoying adventures together. Horses have always been a passion of hers. They worked hard to develop a small backyard ranch, “Sin City Minis” where they raised miniature horses, chickens and other small animals including several small dogs – Miss Georgia Peach among her favorites. Janice also inspired everyone to love the art of cooking, fabulous cocktails and entertaining.
Janice was a member of the Mesquite Club and joined the Las Vegas Emblem Club #114 in 1994. In her years of service to the Emblem Club, she held several offices including president and developed many fundraising opportunities, some that are still used today. She enjoyed the companionship of her Emblem sisters and the charity work they provided. She is remembered as a hard-working volunteer.
Her compliments were always well deserved and you took the constructive criticism knowing you would be better for it. Janice will be remembered for her infectious laugh that filled a room and brought a smile to everyone’s face.
