Janice Wilhelmina Barkley

Janice graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1968. Janice's first teaching job was in Smithfield North Carolina after graduating from Fayetteville State University in 1972. She later taught school in Goldsboro, North Carolina before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. Janice later earned her Master's Degree. She worked at several different schools in the Clark County School District where she taught Math and before moving into High School administration.

Janice was a proud member and past president of the local Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She spent some of her spare time encouraging High School age young ladies to work towards getting a college degree and becoming a DELTA. She loved her crimson and cream colors. Janice was deeply hurt with the passing on her parents James Barkley of Philadelphia, Mother Catherine Ellis of Las Vegas, sister Romona Jocelyn of Lawrenceville Ga, brother Dennis Barkley of Las Vegas, NV.

She leaves cherish memories of her life well spent: brother Alben Barkley and his wife Ruby of Las Vegas, NV and numerous nieces and nephews: Dewayne Jocelyn of Atlanta, GA, Andra Britt of Las Vegas, Rhonda Harrington of Las Vegas, Bryce and Natacha Jocelyn of Lawrenceville, GA, Denekya Barkley of Los Angeles, CA, Whitney Jocelyn of Lawrenceville GA, Chase Jocelyn of Lawrenceville, D'Maya Barkley of Los Angeles, CA, with numerous other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Janice will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Nellis Baptist Church, 4300 Las Vegas Blvd N, Las Vegas, NV 89115.
