Janett Sue Sherman Traynor, the youngest daughter of Reginald Sherman and Mary Barger Sherman, was born on January 31, 1951, in Warner Robins, GA. She recalled many happy childhood escapades with her brother, John. It was during this time that Janett learned the value of industriousness and creativity, as her father built the family home and her mother sewed their clothing herself.
By 1962 both her parents had passed away and, after a short time in loving foster care, Janett and John were sent to Mooseheart, the Child City, in Aurora, IL, where they spent the remainder of their childhoods. At Mooseheart, Janett Sue’s aptitude and talents were fostered and appreciated by her beloved teacher and mentor, Mae Miller. She proved herself to be an exceptional seamstress and also the first young woman to take drafting at Mooseheart, for which she was honored by the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Janett married high school sweetheart Michael Reardon in 1971 and they had three beautiful children together. Her second marriage was to Andrew Traynor, who she met in 1978, and with whom she had three more children.
Janett completed her Bachelor's of Art in 1987, graduating from Aurora University with a teaching degree, which she pursued out of her love for children and the positive influence her own teacher, Mae Miller, had in her life. Besides children, her passion at this time was sewing and she became an avid quilter who exhibited in shows and craft fairs throughout the area.
Janett and Andy raised their family in Batavia, Dundee, and Elgin; all towns along the beautiful Fox River Valley of IL. In 2010 they retired to Las Vegas, NV where they spent ten happy years enjoying the desert’s beauty and visiting with family. Janett passed away at her daughter’s home after a brief battle with cancer on July 17, 2020.
Janett Sue is survived by her husband of 40 years, Andrew Traynor; her six children: Jason (Dee) Reardon, Valerie (Chris) Plante, Nathan Reardon, Kimberly (Ross) Cangelosi, Stephanie (Scott) Traynor, and Noah (Lauren) Traynor; her fifteen grandchildren, and her brother, John Sherman.
