Janet Marks

Janet Kraut Marks of Henderson, Nevada, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at age 82 on June 17th, 2023 at 11:11pm. Despite being vaccinated, and boosted, she died after a 2-month battle with complications from COVID-19, that literally took her breath away. Janet, born in 1940 to Emanuel and Betty Kraut, in Brooklyn, New York, was a loving wife of 37 years to Jack E. Marks (who preceded her in death), proud mother to Michelle (David) Schreier, and devoted Grandmother to Ethan, Taaly and Sydney Schreier.

Whether you were a close friend or her acquaintance, you’d know that she valued her friends and community like no other. She was fierce in her medical career as a Registered Nurse, and was completely dedicated to her work in pediatric burn care at Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, NY, where she worked tirelessly for over 40 years.

Her golden years were spent in sunny Las Vegas where she and Jack relocated for their retirement. Janet’s warm and friendly personality fostered new and meaningful friendships. The shows, fine dining, mahjong, card games and dinner parties kept her active and on the go. And all the while, still she continued to maintain her longtime friendships from back east as she traveled the world with her New York crew. Travels included trips to Europe, South Pacific, and Israel.

But nothing made those pistachio green eyes sparkle more than bragging about her three grandchildren whom she visited for holidays and special occasions in Los Angeles.

Services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 10:40 AM at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Buchanan Blvd. Boulder City, Nevada 89005.
