James was born to the late James Overton and Doris (Meadows) Hinkle on February 5, 1929, in Greenbriar Tennessee. He lived his early life in Tennessee before joining the USAF in 1948.
James married his one true love Jean (Adams) Hinkle on December 20, 1950, and were blessed with three children, James Overton Hinkle III, Patricia Shupp and Barry S Hinkle.
James was stationed in many different places around the country and world as he was an Airport Control Operator in the USAF and worked with many different planes that were being tested for use including the SR-71. Upon Retirement from the Air Force in 1968 he and Jean made Las Vegas their home, where they raised their children and he became a City of Las Vegas Fire Inspector.
James had an unwavering faith in God that you might call astonishing. He was a man that followed the words of God and Jesus and lived his life accordingly.
James joins his wife Jean, son James, son in law Steve, sister Peggy and brother Lloyd in Heaven.
He is survived by his daughter Patricia, son Barry (Michelle), granddaughter Marci (Buck), grandson Tim and great grandchildren Zach and Trevor as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
