James Perry Davis

Jim was born on September 14, 1957 to Johnie Bob Davis and Frances Light in National City, CA. After graduating high school from South Park High School, Fairplay, CO in 1975 Jim joined the US Marine Corp. While in the Marine Corp Jim worked in communication. Jim stated that some of his best memories are with the “guys” in the Corp. Jim discharged from the Marines in 1986 as a Sargent.

In 2005 Jim met his wife, Cathy online while playing cards. and as they say, the rest was history. Jim and Cathy were married 18 years in January. Although they do not have children together, they have four children between them. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grand kids and fur babies, and boating.

Jim was looking forward to retirement in April but refused to stop working at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Jim enjoyed working at the Convention Center and made many lasting friends.

Jim was predeceased by his father and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Cathy, his Mom, Frances Laughrey (Joe), three sons, James “JD” Davis, Shawn Davis (Elizabeth), Chester Sample (Chris), a daughter, Melissa Sample, two sisters, Linda Penny, Shirley Williams, a brother, Robert Sharon (Tracy), four grandkids, Saphira, Zoey, Cedric, Kahlan, best friend Gary Fry (Vickie) along with his fur babies , Angel, Misty and Nala. And many nieces and nephews and cousins.

A burial will take place on September 20, 2024 @ 2:00 PM at The Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
