Jacob “Jake” Ray Ochoa was born February 12, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Raymond and Leanne Ochoa. He passed away on June 7, 2021. Jacob is survived by his parents, Raymond and Leanne, and his brother Antonio. He was a wonderful, loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend who will be deeply missed.
Jacob had a light about him that would put a smile on anyone’s face. No one will ever forget the biggest smile on his face that would light up any room he entered. If any smile and laugh is contagious, it was Jacob’s. To match his smile, Jacob’s heart was as big as could be. You were no stranger if Jacob was around. It was always so important to him that no one ever felt left out. He would go out of his way to make sure that everyone felt special and loved, and he would always love to learn about your interests and talents. He would often surprise his loved ones with little gifts, sweet messages and gestures, such as random flowers for his Mom, a random “I love you” message to his brother and Dad and a huge hug before he was going to bed. Jacob’s warm and loving soul will forever be with those lucky enough to be surrounded by his love. He will always be “everyone’s little brother”.
His entire family and all his friends are so proud of the thoughtful, young man he was growing to be. Growing up, Jacob expressed an early interest in cars and video games. As a young boy, you would almost always find him playing with his toy cars or surprising everyone with how good he was in his video games. Some of his favorite memories are of his uncles taking him on car rides in their fast cars; he would always ask to go faster, while his brother would worry and ask to go slower. It’s no surprise Jacob grew up to get a fast car of his own - his Infiniti G35. Jacob’s car was his pride and joy. Each time you’d see him, he would be so excited to share what parts or pieces he was customizing next. There is no doubt he is out there cruising with his windows rolled down and music blasting.
Jacob’s passions also included skateboarding, playing guitar, working out, watching basketball and collecting sneakers and vinyl records. He spent his teenage years becoming an incredible Call of Duty gamer and even made videos that received tons of acclaim and views. As his interests evolved, among many other passions, he really enjoyed learning how to skate. Jacob spent many nights relaxing at the local skate parks. He also quickly picked up many songs on his Dad’s old guitar, always looking for the next song to learn and play. In recent years, Jacob always surprised his family and friends with how in-shape he was - working out in Mom and Dad’s garage was a part of his daily routine. If he wasn’t lifting weights, he’d take a break by shooting hoops in the backyard. Miami Heat was his favorite basketball team, and Jacob would always be so excited when a game was on and they were playing. You would often see Jacob in one of his Miami Heat jerseys, not only when lounging around the house, but also when going out to see friends and family. Jacob was always a fan of collecting items, but more recently, he amassed a very impressive sneaker collection and was working on rapidly accumulating vinyl records. One look at his vinyl collection would show you how extensive and diverse his music taste was. Jacob curated countless playlists and it is no question he had a true talent and gift for music. Jacob was a very bright young man with a huge future ahead of him. He was enrolled at the College of Southern Nevada and was planning on studying Business.
No amount of words can express how much Jacob will be missed. His kind, gentle soul and the image of his giant smile and dimples will live on forever through all those that he touched. He is truly one-of-a-kind and so deeply loved by every person who had the privilege of meeting him.
“Life moves fast, but my baby, keep it slow. No matter where life takes me, find me with a smile”
