Jack O. Barber, age 81, passed away on April 15, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico, but has been a Las Vegas resident for the past 44 years. Jack was a Communications specialist in the USAF, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam. He retired as a Staff Sergeant after 20 years of service. He continued working as a Cryptographer at the Nevada Test Site until retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed photography, watching western movies, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maria Dolores Barber; sons, John Barber and James Barber, Daughter in law, Karen Odell Barber, son in law, Jim Young, grandchildren, Jason, Devin and Brett, along with extended family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pilar Barber. He was the last surviving sibling of 5. He was also preceded in death by brothers, John, Tom, and Mark Barber, and sister, Ann Trongard A Memorial Mass will be held in his honor on Friday, April 20, 2018, at 2:30 pm at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3036 Alta Dr., Las Vegas, NV 89107. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The All American Boys Chorus, a non profit organization his grandson Jason is a performing member of. This made Papa Jack very proud.
