J Stewart Douglas Skelly passed away Feb. 17, 2012. Doug was born in the beautiful rolling hills of south central Pennsylvania Dec. 29, 1950. In 1968, he moved to Chicago to attend college and there met his future wife, Mary Ann. He and his beloved were married April 21, 1970 and moved to New Jersey for Doug's enlistment in the U.S. Army. After several years, he enlisted in the Navy and did four years with the U.S. Navy. In 1984, he joined the CIA and stayed with them until retirement. His career spanned over 20 years, during which he and Mary Ann lived in Germany (three years), India (also three), and Italy (six years). In 2003, he and Mary Ann retired to Las Vegas. After boredom set in, they joined Century 21 MoneyWorld, where they enjoyed selling real estate for a number of years. It was a career they both loved. Doug particularly enjoyed his volunteer duties with the Las Vegas Police Department and caring for four incompetent veterans. He loved Canyon Ridge Christian Church, where he and Mary Ann had many friends. Doug is survived by his wife and their three children, Arlington M. Alexander III (Joanne), Michele-Helene Martin (Kenneth), and J Stewart Douglas Skelly Jr. (Karen); eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also had three sisters, Nancy A. Fairfax (Jesse), Johanna G. Reeder (Frank), and Melissa A. Brehm (Douglas); an aunt and uncle, James and Mildred Skelly; and several cousins. The family would like to thank Nathan Adelson Hospice for the care Doug received in his last months; Dr. Nicholas J. Vogelzang and the staff at Comprehensive Cancer Centers; and Dr. Rita Maity-Mukherjee, the staff, and Infusion Center nurses at the Southwest Veterans Clinic, all were wonderfully supportive.
