Ivorlene accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an age early and was baptized in the community of Spring Bluff, OK. She remained a faithful servant, keeping God close in her heart. She was an active member of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Compton CA and remained a member until she became ill.
After graduating from Wheatley High, Beggs, OK in 1951, she moved to Tulsa, OK where she obtained employment with Esquire Laundry for many years.
During her time in Tulsa, she met and fell in love with J. C. Bobo. They were joined in Holy matrimony December 1955. Of this union, a beautiful baby boy, Denorval J. Bobo, was born. Ivorlene also helped raise 4 children.
Ivorlene and J.C. moved to Long Beach CA, and later to Compton, CA. She worked at Long Beach General Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide until her retirement.
Affectionately known to her family as Auntie. Her nature was very fun loving, nurturing and caring. Everyone in her neighborhood knew and loved her dearly. She was the aunt that always made sure that you had something to eat, even if it was nothing more than fruit she would give. She was also the Aunt that had a special bond with all her nieces and nephews.
No one was a stranger to her, for she would talk to and treat everyone as if she had known you for years.
One day at a time: Yesterday is dead, tomorrow is unborn, so there is nothing to mourn. So, let us take one day at a time; For all that is past and that has been can never return to be lived once again; So, let us take one day at a time…
She was a positive influence and role model as a big sister when Lurdie moved to California and lived with her. She was blessed by her sister Earthel and family, whom she lived with and was cared for when she became ill until the Master called her home.
Ivorlene was granted her angel wings and departed on February 3rd, 2021. The master permitted her to join a portion of those dear to her.
She was preceded in death by husband J.C. Bobo, parents and stepfather, Jack Lynch, and by siblings: 3 brothers: Rufus, Ulysses (Dutt), Joe Lewis, one sister Nannie B, and one daughter Diane Bobo
